Regrets - I've Had a Few...

Someone on the explore chat suggested I keep a blog of my pictures that I caption. After a huge search, some pilfering, and digging through old files, I've found most of them. Thanks to all the CPs who helped - I learned a lot doing this! The pics were a wonderful archive of fabulous memories of the last six months since I learned to do some photo-shopping and captioning. Some are still missing: I really wish I had the pic of the giraffe peeking into the business meeting in the new G-tent, Dutchie adventures on Puppy Hill and Neal's arrival in the nursery, the antics of the puppies at WCC trying to reach the window in the PEC or heading down to the river for a swim.... I'm hoping some pop up from time to time in the Facebook pages - it seems pics do occasionally resurface with whatever algorithm FB uses. But from now on, I intend to keep adding them to the blog - my own memory book for SDP and WCC.

If, by any chance, you've saved one of my captioned pics to your own files somewhere, could you PM it to me? Thanks!! Enjoy the trip back down memory lane.

New Additions - the Rescued

Janine's Equine Rescue Network raised some funds by holding a
contest to name the new baby mammoth donkey at SDP.
Janine immediately put the money to use and rescued a gang of new recruits:

Preparing for Launch - the Baby Great Horned Owls, May 2016

As if watching puppy antics isn't enough, the Camera People had an extra treat this spring:  two baby Great Horned Owls fledged right onto the top of Puppy Hill.  A lot of work didn't get done worldwide as people tuned in to see what the two babies were up to!

Sadly, one of them died - Carlene thinks from being poisoned by food mom caught offsite (no poisons of any kind allowed at SDP).  I believe the little guy was buried in the cemetery with our good Mary and beautiful babies, Lumen and Mae.

The other little guy found his wings about a week later.  Fly high, Baby Owl!!
We loved watching you grow!!

I have no idea why I associated these guys with Laurel and Hardy.
It just seemed like one was serious and the other a clown.

And the Pockets arrived...... and attention was in the barn, rather than on Puppy Hill:

I loved this grouchy little face!!!!

It's really hard to be a fierce RAPTOR when you're so stinkin' cute!!!

Little guy, on his own now, stretching those wings:

Our Pocketful of Miracles - Baby Pockets

SDP was blessed with a surprise when we found mammoth donkey Maude pregnant.
Eagerly awaited, the birth of this sweet baby was watched by hundreds.
She is now charming visitors and viewers alike.

Welcome, Baby Pockets!

It's so sweet to watch Maude as she progressed from being a very frightened rescue to become the loving and friendly mom she is now.

It's hard for me to believe this sweet little miracle was in a kill pen, on her way inside her mom to be slaughtered.  We are so blessed!

Baby Pockets' first forays out into the big wide world - the farm at Service Dog Project!
I couldn't help but steal the line from Field of Dreams!

Carlene wanted Bentley and Pockets to meet.
I'm not sure this was exactly a "meet-cute", as they say in Hollywood,
but I think these two may become good buddies!

Pockets likes it outside.  She seized the chance for a little extra field trip on her own!

Pockets is busy exploring her farm, under the very watchful eye of her mom, her Auntie Grace and Auntie Ankle Annie:
