Regrets - I've Had a Few...

Someone on the explore chat suggested I keep a blog of my pictures that I caption. After a huge search, some pilfering, and digging through old files, I've found most of them. Thanks to all the CPs who helped - I learned a lot doing this! The pics were a wonderful archive of fabulous memories of the last six months since I learned to do some photo-shopping and captioning. Some are still missing: I really wish I had the pic of the giraffe peeking into the business meeting in the new G-tent, Dutchie adventures on Puppy Hill and Neal's arrival in the nursery, the antics of the puppies at WCC trying to reach the window in the PEC or heading down to the river for a swim.... I'm hoping some pop up from time to time in the Facebook pages - it seems pics do occasionally resurface with whatever algorithm FB uses. But from now on, I intend to keep adding them to the blog - my own memory book for SDP and WCC.

If, by any chance, you've saved one of my captioned pics to your own files somewhere, could you PM it to me? Thanks!! Enjoy the trip back down memory lane.

Guppies and Potty Training

December 5

Guppies had a new position in the feed room today - a sectioned off area with only enough room for sleeping.  If they needed to do ANYTHING else, they had to get out of bed and go out the back door to what we call "the poop deck" - a new little porch that the guys built on to the side of the house this past spring.  This gets them in the habit of pooing and peeing outside and only sleeping inside - proper kennel behavior.  This is a big step towards getting ready to move into one of the kennels.  They were able to move the little "nursery cam" into the feed room so CPs could watch.

The donkeys are just so sweet.

(George and Bella at the National Dog Show, 12/1/2/15)

I just want this on my blog so I can watch the video another 3012 times!!!

Carry them while you can - those days are NUMBERED!!!

That is one cute little guy!!
(and one cute little pup, too!!)

Aplogies to Mr. Sandburg...

December 8:

Regina was being quite the little escape artist all afternoon and evening.

Visiting during Sunday Stew.  Grommet loves his ladies!

Training.  Not sure what kind of training, however...

Get those guinea hens off my hill!

December 7:

Cold frosty morning!!
And sometimes, it is just HARD to wake up!!!

December 6:

Gorgeous morning - lots of frost.  But it is going to warm up to the mid 50s today - unheard of!  Sunday Stew with Santa AND shatting should be glorious for those who get to go!

Snatched this midwinter shot from Rob's postings on explore - love the long shadows.  We are two weeks off the "dead" of winter - shortest daylight times of the year.  Sun comes up late, and leaves in midafternoon.  (...it could be worse, this could be Stockholm...)  I dread the last three weeks in December and the first 3 in January - I call it "going into the tunnel" as there is so little light.  Have to go find my "winter lamp" and spend an hour with it each morning so I can get through the day!

Hoping that thoughts of wriggly warm puppies warm up YOUR day!

The pups had a field day (ha!ha!) during Sunday Stew, including digging a huge hole.  The volume reference is regarding Carlene's gift yesterday at MailCall - two bullhorns.  She was packing one on her golfcart in the pics, so I'm guessing she's learned how to use it!!

December 3:

Remember the song from "White Christmas"?  Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen!
And a little piece of movie trivia:  I always thought it weird that Vera Ellen wore such high-necked dresses in that movie - she was so beautiful - like a real Barbie doll!!  Turns out the poor girl was anorexic and bulimic and had destroyed her throat muscles - the costumes were a cover-up.
(I really need to apply to "Jeopardy" - I know too much weird stuff....)

Walter is a talker.  A lot of the time.  Especially when Megan is out training.  He gets all the other dogs in the barn riled up with his calling for 'Mom".  It's adorable (and yes, sometimes annoying) - that boy LOVES LOVES LOVES his mama!!!!

(update:  I found out later today that Miss Lainie is on "lady leave" and
Walter wanted to let her know he was available!!  'Peyton Place' at CZA!!!)

December 2:

Excellent shot of CP Regina who spent her vacation working her butt off on the farm!  God bless all those CPs who make the trek (pilgrimage???) to Ipswich and then work harder than they thought they ever could!  For many, it's a first time on a farm - dealing with chickens, donkeys, horses, the resident hawk, an occasional rat, and lots and lots and lots of dogs!!  Prepare for a full-body workout as you bend and snap (TY,  Legally Blonde!) bags and bags of poo!

Lint has been in the house, which doubles as the "hospital ward" when a pup is recovering from surgery or doesn't feel up-to-speed (lots of eyes to keep an eye on anyone lounging about in the house.  The dogs can't be watched as closely if they are in a kennel or down in the barn. Plus, I think the dogs enjoy the extra attention.  Do you think they might be holding the thermometer close to a light bulb to get a free trip 'up the hill'???

Learning how to play with the editor on the website:

December 1:

Audrey is back in the house!
Pam saved her favorite nuzzle-bear and Audrey just loves going to sleep with her woobie!!

I am a lousy dog trainer -  Those faces just kill me.

I guess I'll stick to cooking dinner, washing and filling water buckets,
mopping floors and folding laundry!

The Starlets keep getting bigger and bigger.  Gronk was out training with Steve yesterday, but gave me a nice 'hello' when they came back.  He is a BIG boy.

Kelly Riley took some incredible pictures tonight!!!!
